Irish Fiction Fridays: T Crofton Croker: Selection of Irish Fairy & Folk Tales

Welcome to another edition of Irish Fiction Fridays! This week we look at some Irish Fairy and Folktales. T Crofton Croker was born in Cork in 1798. He held a position in the Admiralty, but considered it his life work to collect ancient Irish poetry and folklore. The stories featured here today are from an anthology edited and collected by William Butler Yeats in 1888. For your reading pleasure this week, enjoy Yeat’s “Introduction” in addition to T Crofton Croker’s entires: “The Priest’s Supper,” “The Legend of Knockgrafton,” and “The Soul Cages.” The first two stories are about “The Trooping Fairies” while the last is about “The Merrow.”
