Participate in Optional Worldcon Research

Consider participating in a research study that is collecting data on Worldcon attendees.

Data collection is currently underway on a project investigating Worldcon attendance. The project has been approved by the Institutional Review Board – Human Subjects Committee (St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, TX, USA) and is fully compliant with US Federal Guidelines Governing Human Subjects Research and General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

All participation is voluntary and requires participants provide informed consent before beginning. Data will be used for presentation and publication, but individual participants will not be identifiable. No participant names will be collected or associated with data and participation is completely voluntary and once begun, can be discontinued at any time. Data will be collected via an online survey and maintained on secured and encrypted university servers. The purpose of the survey is to better understand the membership of Worldcon and the specific activities attendees find most desirable.

If you would like to read over the questions before deciding to participate, you can view them here.

In order to gain the best picture of who we are as a community, please consider taking a moment to complete the survey available at this link and encourage others to participate as well.
