If you’ve not been keeping up, as part of our Bid to host the Worldcon in 2019, we are running a series called Irish Fiction Friday, which spotlights a free piece of Irish SFF fiction, art or creative work on, you guessed it, Friday! Today we are pleased to have both an extract and an audio extract for you. It’s Kevin Barry’s City of Bohane, (boʊˈhæn), the debut novel by Irish author Kevin Barry. The book is set in the year 2053, in a world with minimal technology. It received positive reviews and won the 2013 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. The link takes you to the extract, as well as Barry reading from the book. We’ve also included a picture of the map of Bohane, because who doesn’t love a good map in a book?
