‘Colorists are the unknown amazing backup singer that makes every track awesome’.
We’re at Dublin Comicon this weekend, handing out free science fiction and fantasy books as part of our Outreach project. We aim to spread the word about local fandom and conventions around Ireland and the UK. The more fans we have, the merrier we are. So, in honour of Comicon, we’re featuring one of Ireland’s most prominent comic book stars as our Irish Fiction Friday topic.
Eisner Award winning colourist Jordie Bellaire is known for her prolific work with Image, Valiant and Marvel. She has worked on Hawkeye, Magneto, Princess Leia, The Manhattan Projects and Moon Knight. She is currently colouring Rebels for Dark Horse, which investigates the War for Independence and draws parallels with our contemporary setting.
Jordie is an American who lives in Ireland; and a huge addition to our comics community. Her distinctive work means she is one of the most recognised colourists at work in the comics industry. Her Tumblr site is a wonderful example of just how extensive her work is, and she is a passionate protagonist for recognition of colourists and inkers in comic book creation.
