The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) sits on the north side of the River Liffey and is less than a mile east of O’Connell Bridge, the absolute centre of the City. Opened in 2010, the CCD has now hosted over 1,500 events, including conferences, food fairs and festivals, and Dublin Comic Con. Over the weekend of August 15-19, 2019, we will have exclusive use of the entire venue. We have been discussing our plans with the CCD for years, and they are committed to working with us to make the first Irish Worldcon a success to remember.
Getting to the CCD
Dublin Airport is about 10km (6 miles) from Dublin. The Airlink Express shuttle bus runs directly from both airport terminals to various points around the centre of Dublin (including immediately outside the CCD). Taxi and car hire services are also available. See the CCD’s transport page for more information.
The CCD consulted with Irish disability organisations at every stage of the building process. This has resulted in a venue that provides a welcoming and comfortable experience to every guest and user regardless of ability. Some of the CCD’s accessibility features include a completely step-free environment, with every meeting space being wheelchair accessible. There is Braille signage on all meeting rooms and loop systems in all public spaces. Together with our own commitment to accessibility, this means that inclusion will be a core principle of Dublin 2019 from the very start.
