Irish Fiction Friday: Why is Flann O’Brien so funny?

We’ve skipped a couple of Irish Fiction Fridays recently because there’s been so much going on, but today we’re back with an article about Flann O’Brien. It was the 50th anniversary of his death on the 1st of April, and we wanted to share some writing about this iconic Irish author with you. An iconic author of both the postmodernist movement and SFF in Ireland, O’Brien’s work has had a lasting effect on science fiction writing in Ireland. Sadly, his work is not available online to read (unless you get a naughty copy – and we don’t do that sort of thing!), so instead we’re linking this great article by Nathaniel Fisk which provides a great starting point to Flann’s writing and asks ‘Why is Flann O’Brien so funny?’
