The World Science Fiction Convention – Worldcon – is an annual celebration of science fiction and fantasy of all kinds, attracting thousands of fans each year from around the world. In August 2019, it will be coming to Dublin for the first time.
Hosted across the Convention Centre Dublin and the Point Square, Worldcon will bring together up to 5,000 fans for a unique five-day festival of all things fantastic. The event will include hundreds of hours of panels and discussion with leading figures in the field; there will be signings, readings and parties; and one of the highlights will be the prestigious Hugo Awards ceremony, celebrating the best in the year’s science fiction.
The CCD’s largest open area, right at the entrance to the convention, will be the Exhibits Hall. The Hall will feature exhibits and displays, a Creators’ Alley – and, at its centre, the Dealers’ Area. If you would like to be part of the Dublin 2019 Dealers’ Area, please submit your application below.
Table rates
The following rates are for tables in the Dealers’ Area of the CCD Exhibits Hall for the full five days of the convention:
Tables: 240€ per 6ft table (does not include any membership or Hall Pass)
Hall Passes: 30€ each
Electricity: 60€
Memberships and Passes
Everyone in the Dealers’ Area must have either a full convention membership or a Hall Pass, and should wear the appropriate badge at all times. These are not included in the table rates, so as to give you the flexibility to choose which you prefer.
A full convention membership allows access to all parts of the convention throughout the weekend, so if you are looking to enjoy the rest of the convention as well as running a table, or if you are planning to participate in the convention programme, you will need a full membership.
For those who are simply staffing a table, a Dealers’ Pass will be more economical: a Pass costs 30€ and is valid for all five days of the convention. A Hall Pass allows access to the ground floor of the Convention Centre (the CCD Exhibits Hall) and to the bar on the first floor for refreshments, but not to any other parts of the convention. Membership badges are personal, and are not transferable. Hall Passes are linked to your table(s), and may be used by different people on different days, so that you can rotate table staff, if you wish. However, there is a strict rule of one person per Pass in the Hall at any one time.
Electricity and WiFi
The electricity charge (60€) is a flat rate for the entire weekend. Note that we will provide a charging station for phones and tablets in the Exhibits Hall for use by Dealers, so you may not need to request power at your table. There will also be free wi-fi in the Hall.
Shipping your goods to Dublin
As well as arriving with their goods at the start of the convention, Dealers will be able to ship goods in advance to a destination in Dublin, where we will receive them. We will then take care of getting them to the convention centre for you. We will publish details of the costs and how to arrange this shortly.
Important information
Dealers’ Tables are for the purpose of selling appropriate and legal goods, in line with Irish law and the convention’s policies. Dealers are expected to staff their tables for the whole time that the Exhibits Hall is open to the public. All those staffing or otherwise helping with Tables must abide by the convention’s Code of Conduct.
If you make your own goods, and are not able to provide this level of sales staffing, your work may be more appropriate for a Creators Alley table instead. Contact creators-alley@dublin2019.com for more details.
If you are an artist and a member of the convention, and would like the convention to display and sell your work for you, please contact the Art Show team for more information: artshow@dublin2019.com .
For more information about the location, convention and Exhibits Hall, visit our Dealers and Creators Alley FAQ. If you have any questions not answered there, please contact dealers@dublin2019.com .
Applications for Dealers tables have now closed, and we are finalising plans for the convention. If you have already applied for a table, we will be in touch with you very soon (if we haven’t already), and we look forward to seeing you in Dublin!
