Read on for details of the competitions at Dublin 2019, and how to enter!

Academic posters

We will feature displays and presentations of academic posters from across the full range of academic disciplines. A formal call for proposals has been issued jointly with the Academic Programme track. Proposals are welcome from presenters at any point in their career, but students and post-doctoral researchers will be eligible to enter their submissions into a competition. The competition will have two tracks, one for STEM subjects, and one for Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities (you are invited to select the track that best fits your work). Both tracks will have a 100€ prize for the poster that best communicates its subject to the general public. You can submit proposals via the call for proposals form, or, if you have any questions, you can contact us at academic-posters@dublin2019.com.

Fantastical Ireland photo competition

Dublin 2019 wants you to share your visions of Ireland! All members are welcome to enter our Fantastical Ireland photo competition. Just send us your favourite pictures that have a connection with mythology, speculative fiction or just inspire you. Images may either be taken in Ireland, or be related to Ireland. Landscapes, portraits, and staged scenes are all welcome. Longlisted entries will be displayed at the convention and the winner will be showcased in convention publications and at the Closing Ceremony.

Entries have now closed for the Fantastical Ireland competition, but look out for the results at the convention!

Rocket Building Competition

Have you ever wanted to make your own spaceship? Get ready to enter our great Worldcon model competition! Create a model rocket or spacecraft from your own imagination or let yourself be inspired by any known universe (Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate, The Expanse, Aliens etc). Then bring your model with you to Dublin 2019, where entries will be displayed and judged during the convention.

The overall length for a model should be between 12 inches (30cm) and 24 inches (60cm). There will be separate categories for under eighteens and over eighteens; and separate categories for those choosing to make LEGO models and those making models from scratch. Entrants are encouraged to show their creativity in using recycled materials. Prizes will be announced closer to the date of the convention. See the rules for full details, and reserve your place here!
