Irish Fiction Fridays: Horslips: Dearg Doom

Happy Irish Fiction Friday! This week we feature a musical interlude. This version of Dearg Doom is sung by The Horslips in 1974 on The Old Grey Whistle Test. It is from the album The Táin (1973), based on the mythological cycle. The annotated lyrics are here.

The Horslips originated in Dublin and are widely considered to be the founding fathers of Celtic rock, which fuses traditional Irish music with rock. They were primarily active between 1970 and 1980 but have a renaissance of sorts since 2004.
